Immature #99WordStories

This week at the Carrot Ranch, Charli Mills challenged writers to In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story about something or someone immature. Is it a wine not yet ready to uncork or an adult not ready to adult? You can follow the flight of immature fledglings or come up with something unexpected. Go where the prompt leads!

My story involves two fictional characters discussing a fictional male. I hope you enjoy it.

He’s So Immature

How immature is he?

He’s so immature he wears a superman cape whenever we leave the house.

He plays hopscotch on the paving stones and zig-zags between the lunchtime crowd.

He declines the lift then immediately pushes the button and thinks it’s hilarious when the door opens again. No one else is amused.

He rolls lollipops down the aisle and interrupts everyone, saying, ‘Scuse me. Scuse me.’

He explodes packets of crisps during quiet times in the movies.

He farts loudly in public and laughs even louder, uncontrollably. He’s so immature.

That’s for sure. How old is he?

Four.

It is when adults act like four year olds when they aren’t in their 90’s…
Did anyone elses ‘Dad’ do the “Pull my finger” trick – (to be followed by a ‘fart’)?

Children should be able to have some joy, but without causing grief.
With that said I do think the old saying that “children should be seen and not heard” is just unfair.

Working with nursery schoolers (a lifetime ago) some of the parents were more immature than their little ones. Now that’s sad!

Oh yes, I know that Dad trick. Gross!
I agree with you about the ‘seen and not heard’ mandate – that was so back in my era. I don’t think we were supposed to be seen either.
I know what you mean about the immaturity of parents. I had one little girl who broke my heart. More than anything she needed to be loved. She used to hide under the desks and cry uncontrollably. When her mother came for a meeting, she said that the child didn’t need to be loved, she needed to learn … (I’ve actually forgotten the word she used) but it was something remote and adult, way beyond her years. So sad. It took a long time for that girl to feel confident in the class, and would often regress. 😅

I had two ‘pre-school’ students; one a girl who was a biter – But her father wouldn’t believe us. And the other had learning challenges. I went in early and worked with him individually every day – but his father thought there wasn’t anything wrong with the boy. Sad when parents can’t see straight. *sigh*

It is sad, but I can understand it too. They don’t want there to be any imperfections in their children.

Some adults protect themselves more than their children. *sigh*…

That’s so true, and sometimes in protecting themselves, they harm their children. 😦

😂 Four year olds can be fun. But they’re also exhausting!

Good one, Norah. It’s the adults who do these kinds of things we need to worry about.

😂😂 Indeed it is, Pete. No adult I know would ever do any of those things. 😉

He would be a worry if he was older. Sometimes I overhear people discuss the immaturity of young children. I shake my head and think ‘give them a chance, let them be kids and have fun’.
