Live Love Laugh Learn … Create the possibilities

Hello!

Hi patient friends and readers,

I just wanted to let you know that I am still here and still reading (some of) your posts. Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t always let me leave a comment or even a like, so you may not be aware that I have popped over. I’m not sure what is going on with WP. Even when I’m logged in, I’m told to log in to leave a comment. Then when I log in, my comment is deleted and I have to start all over. And so it goes around. I apologise. I am always very excited when, on the rare occasion, it let’s me through.

We’re already three months into 2025 and I’m yet to establish my own writing routine or to figure out just what I want for my writing future. After losing my writing mojo last year and then moving home and into a new life phase, I’m still trying to find my feet (pen/pencil/keyboard). So, just know – I’m still here and I’m doing okay.

I look forward to seeing you around, even if I can’t leave a comment.

Best wishes,

Norah

I agree with Debby’s suggestion in the comments. But sad to hear that it didn’t work for you. Sometimes I have issues with leaving comments on WordPress – the comment vanishes and I have no idea if it’s posted or if it was eaten up. I have had comments that go to my junk folder, so it happens. But other times comments just disappear. It’s so strange. Hopefully the issues resolve themselves. I guess in the meantime it calls for patience and appreciating what we got. Wishing you well and take care, Norah 🙂

Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Mabel. I’ve been trying to sort things out this afternoon with a very helpful and patient WP AI. I haven’t got there yet, but hopefully soon. 🙂

Hopefully this can be resolved. You have probably tried this, but perhaps clear the browser’s cookies and cache, and allow pop-ups from WordPress or the blog pages. It all sounds so strange. I see you have updated to a new theme (it looks great!), and hope it resolves the issues.

Normally I type my comment, click on the WP icon right below to login and post, it usually goes through. But at the end of the day, I think we are glad you are ok and back 🙂 ❤

Thanks so much, Mabel. Yes, I’ve changed to an updated theme. I’m not so sure I like it yet – still a bit to do. Unfortunately I’m not yet having success with the comments. Some go through and some don’t. Trying to figure it out takes up a lot of time when I’d rather be reading and commenting, or even doing other things.
Thank you for you suggestions. I’ll keep trying.

I really hope the comments resolves itself. It does sound like it takes up a lot of time. WP can be weird like that, and if it still persists, hope someone there can be of assistance. Sending you well wishes, Norah ❤

Hi Norah. Nice to see you pop back into blogland. Just so you know, I have the same problems on WP with about 50% of the blogs I read. I know how annoying it is when we’re logged in and it says we’re not. What I do is copy my reply, click log out below where my avatar is, then paste back the comment, click again to log back in then it takes the comment. It’s very annoying! ❤

      Hi Debby,
Thanks for your suggestion. I couldn’t see my avatar to log out there, but did log out and then back in – all to no avail. Something will work eventually, I’m sure – or not! 🙂

I think it might be a user problem. 🤔😉 I’ve now found my avatar, so will try that next time. I’ve just spent double my commenting time on installing a new theme, so no reading and commenting today but hopefully I’ll get over to visit you sometime soon. 🙂

Hi Norah, seeing a new entry on your blog is great. I hope all is well with you.

There have indeed been various problems with WordPress; thankfully, most of them are quickly sorted out. However, users need to change outdated, no longer supported themes and ensure they are using the latest version of their web browser. As with any website, WordPress has its fair share of bugs. I consistently report any to them and work with them to get them sorted.

If you need any help with any problems you’re encountering with your blog, I’m always happy to help.

Thank you so much, Hugh. I appreciate your advice and offer of support. Maybe my theme is outdated now. I think I’ve been using it since I started in 2013. Perhaps I should contact WP as you suggest. It’s not much fun when it wastes a lot of precious time.
Best wishes to you. Keep up the great work.

Then it’s likely that your theme is no longer supported, Norah. Unfortunately, the updates that WordPress makes to protect the platform and keep things running won’t always work on themes that are no longer supported. This can cause bugs that can play havoc for users.

However, many classic themes are still available. My blog still uses a supported Classic theme, which works great. And changing themes is much easier and quicker than it used to be.

          Hi Hugh,
You were right. My old theme was unsupported. The very patient and helpful AI doesn’t think that affects my ability to comment. I’ve upgraded to a new theme anyway, but I still have a lot to do to customise it. I’ll see how that goes for a while.
          Thanks again for your support.

Hi Norah. It’s so good to see you getting back on with ReadiLearn. Your life moved in just a bit of another direction last year and understandably that move demanded a lot of your time, energy and attention. Sometimes parts of life have to take a bit of a backseat, just for awhile. I’m looking forward to seeing more of you in your ReadiLearn happy space! 🙂

Thank you, Robbie. I’ve noticed that some others have disappeared also. I guess we all have different reasons an different seasons for blogging. I’m trying to find a reason to start a new season at the moment. Congratulations on all your successes.

Thank you, Norah. A lot of writers have given up due to the flooded state of the book market. I can think of at least 10 including Jacqui Biggar and Mae Clare.

Nice to hear from you. WP does get more and more annoying (and still, I remain). I’ve taken to copying comments before I push send, just in case they’re deleted. Changing browsers helps… sometimes… Hugs to you.

Hi Jacqui, Thanks for you understanding and suggestions. It’s pretty much hit and miss at the moment with more misses than hits. It’s very frustrating and wastes a lot of time without a scrap of success. Congratulations on your new publications.

Good to see you and hear from you, Norah! I “disappeared” off and on the last two or three years during the time of selling our California home and moving to our new home in Oregon to be close to my daughter’s family. I barely get settled.

I agree what Pete said about WordPress because it happened to me also. It’s frustrated.

Good to see you, Norah! We’re helping to pick up the girls after school and take them to their dance classes. I volunteer at Autumn’s classroom one day a week. Nora will be in kindergarten after summer and I may volunteer in her class also. Life is busy with me. When not helping my daughter, I try to do
gardening. The weather is warming up, which helps.
How are things with you? How’s your health?

I’m soory about commenting, Norah! It has been a huge problem with WordPress. I received a great comment in length, but it has the name “Someone.” When I commented on some blogs, my comment turned to Anonymous, or it told me my comment couldn’t go through. 😦
Thank you so much for trying. At least I can see your comment here. 🙂

Good to hear from you, Norah. I think we all go through those periods when writing takes a back seat because either we’re busy or lacking inspiration. I know it’s happened to me.

Yes, that log-in bug was going around WordPress for a while. Another pesty one was was about 20% of the time, I would type a comment, then get the message that the comment could not be posted (I forget the language.) The annyoying part was you couldn’t just hit the back button and send it again. You had to type the comment again. Then, for some mysterious reason, it always went through on the second try. After it happened numerous times, I started saving my comments, in case they didn’t go through. That went on for three weeks until they fixed it.

Thanks for popping over and offering your support and suggestions, Pete. I remember saving my comments in the past for the same reasons, but hadn’t thought to do so again this time. Thank you for the reminder. I’m pleased Word Press finally fixed it for you.
