That’s true. The rhyme, like most, doesn’t have a very pleasant origin, but at least it isn’t as gruesome as many.

Nice one Norah … we had access to a neighbours ancient mulberry tree but we climbed the branches and bounced about while the berries fell into old sheets … we didn’t leave any for the birds! Interested to read about those other fruits and veg that would be classified as berries.

Mulberry trees are great to climb in, aren’t they? (That’s actually a ‘were’ for me. 🙂 )
Sheets were a great way of collecting the fruit. I do feel sorry for the birds though. 🙂
