#WATWB Barber makes the cut

On the last Friday of each month, We Are the World Blogfest invites bloggers to join together in promoting positive news. If you would like to join in, please check out the rules and links below.

Founders of the blogfest state that

“There are many an oasis of love and light out there, stories that show compassion and the resilience of the human spirit. Sharing these stories increases our awareness of hope in our increasingly dark world.”

I agree and like to join in as often as I can.

This month I am sharing a local story about a barber whose acts of kindness turned another’s life around. The barber Nicky Patti is extremely humble and doesn’t brag about the effects of his actions. Instead he says, ‘I think if everyone does their one per cent then the world would be different.’

Nicky Patti says if each person does their one percent the world would be a better place

I agree! How have you given your one per cent today?

Here are the guidelines for #WATWB:

1. Keep your post to Below 500 words, as much as possible.

2. Link to a human news story on your blog, one that shows love, humanity, and brotherhood. Paste in an excerpt and tell us why it touched you. The Link is important, because it actually makes us look through news to find the positive ones to post.

3. No story is too big or small, as long as it Goes Beyond religion and politics, into the core of humanity.

4. Place the WE ARE THE WORLD badge or banner on your Post and your Sidebar. Some of you have already done so, this is just a gentle reminder for the others.

  1. Help us spread the word on social media. Feel free to tweet, share using the #WATWB hashtag to help us trend!

Tweets, Facebook shares, Pins, Instagram, G+ shares using the #WATWB hashtag through the month most welcome. We’ll try and follow and share all those who post on the #WATWB hashtag, and we encourage you to do the same.

The co-hosts for this month are: Shilpa Garg, Inderpreet Kaur Uppal, Peter Nena, Damyanti Biswas,  Eric Lahti.

Please pop over to their blogs to read their stories, comment and share.

Click here to join in and enter the link to your post. The bigger the #WATWB group each month, the greater the joy!

Thank you for reading. I appreciate your comments. Please share your thoughts.

Your story reflects the #WATWB mission of spreading good news and encouraging us to find it. Nicky understands how a good haircut can make a difference in someone’s life. The photos in his article are proof of that alteration. Thank you for sharing the positive vibes!

Aw, that’s so sweet. Thanks, Kate. I’m pleased you enjoyed the story. I worked hard on it but felt I really needed a few more words to really get the message I wanted.

have more now but may well have none for a few days at the end of my recharge month … living well below the poverty line does have consequences but getting off grid has allowed me a car 🙂

Sounds like a lovely chap. We have a story here about a young Syrian refugee who was bullied but since an awful video went viral there been a crowd funding of some 130k to help him and his family settle properly. Sometimes the good people do emerge, though it is sad it takes the awful to be the catalyst.

That’s a wonderful story too, Geoff, and perfect for #WATWB. It is great to see stories in the media of good deeds. There should be more of them for the copycatters to emulate.

Thank you, Norah…I’d never heard of #WATWB…but it sounds like something we need to do more of. I’ve been MIA for quite a while…I apologize…too many deadlines and not enough time to visit blogs. But I’m so happy I came here today.
