Welcome to my blog

Welcome to my blog. This is a whole new adventure for me and I am excited about where it may lead. I hope you will be inclined to pop in from time to time to share my journey and offer some encouragement along the way.

Since education is my life a good deal of what I write will focus on my thoughts and ideas about education and learning. Check out my poem Education is on the “Education is” tab to see how different I believe education and schooling to be. I would love to hear the ways in which you may or may not agree with me. I am in for a bit of education myself as I explore this new world (to me) of blogging and I know there are many wonderful teachers out there ready to teach me what I need to know.

When the student is ready the teacher appears.”

I am ready.

Let the adventure begin!

Well done on trying something new. I am sure you will have great success and enjoyment from your blog just as my girls had great success and enjoyment from you teaching them .

    Hi Norah,
Great to see you have this up and going. Now I look forward to hearing your views and directions on education. You have heaps of experience and insight, and it will be great to have this way of discussing education.

    G’day Norah,
Saw your tweet about your first post, so thought I would come for a visit. I run a student blogging challenge twice a year and so far 35 students, 75 classes from 10 countries have registered. First challenge is posted 8th September.

I remember in 2008 when I wrote my first post and wondered why nobody came to leave comments. I was then taken under the wing of Sue Waters from Edublogs and five years later, I am still blogging.

Welcome to this world and despite the steep learning curve at the beginning, it is worth the effort!

Hi Sue, Thank you for your encouragement. It is certainly a very exciting, and daunting, adventure but I’m sure I’ll muddle through. I have been reading your blog about the challenge for students. It is very interesting. I had considered replying to your request for mentors, but I don’t think I’m quite up to that yet – the students would be more advanced than I at this stage! Maybe in a year or two I’ll give it a go.
